Shows rockhead, with Bogside Thick Group of coals forming dark band below roadway, middle distance on left. Shovel excavators are loading dumper trucks. The Bogside Thick Group is part of the Passage Group (Scottish Millstone Grit), Carboniferous age. The excavator bears the markings 24RB (Ruston-Bucyrus, the makers) and Wimpey.
