| Description: | Isle of Rum. Inverness-shire. Glacial features at Harris. The area is also part of the Rum Central Complex, the root of a Palaeocene volcano. A late-glacial storm beach overlying a 'preglacial' raised marine rock platform and cliff. In the foreground are layered ultrabasic rocks of the Western Layered Intrusion which forms a 500 m. thick, gently-dipping (10-15 degrees) mass of peridotite. The background is of granophyre of the Western Granite. |
