Description: Ironbridge. Looking SE. Horse tramway tunnel, Ironbridge, Salop. An old (capstone dated 1800) horse tramway tunnel leading from the Lincoln Hill Limestone Mines and Quarries towards the Iron Bridge. The tunnel was almost certainly constructed by William Reynolds (1758-1803), local iron-master for the transportation of limestone to the Bedlam Furnaces and nearby kilns. The tunnel is oval in shape and brick-lined for most of its accessible 90 m. length.
