Description: Small and Hayes' Quarry, Ballymakeonan, Townland 1400 yd. N. 55 1/2 degrees E. of Magheralin Church. Looking N. Quarry in the Upper Chalk near Moira, Co. Down. General view of Upper Chalk (Senonian) with flint bands and nodules overlain by Clay-with-flints and Tertiary basalt (about 6 ft. seen). The chalk or 'White Limestone' is wrought by hand, the flints removed, and used in the production of Whiting and putty at the Whiting Mills, Magheralin (1? miles from quarry).
