Description: | A close view of the gorge of the Conait Burn, Glen Lyon, Perthshire. Looking southwards down the 'hanging valley' of the Conait into Glen Lyon. The Allt Conait rises at Loch Giorra at a height of 1,324 feet and falls through a series of waterfalls and rock gorges and enters the River Lyon at a height just below 900 feet. The hanging valley, usually a tributary valley whose floor is well above that of the adjacent main valley is typical of glaciated uplands where it results from the glacial deepening or widening of the main valley. |
