Description: Cliff End, c. 350 metres NNE of Haddocks Fault. Looking NW. Channel structure in upper Ashdown Beds. These 30 metre cliffs are cut in basal Wadhurst Clay and upper Ashdown Beds, the contact can be made out about half-way up the cliff at a slight notch below the massive 'Cliff End Sandstone'. The figure stands centrally on the floor of a channel cut into a sandstone unit, see photo A11372, and infilled with soft grey mudstone and siltstone. Notice the well-developed joints and the way in which they assist cliff erosion.
