| Description: | Great Rock Mine, Hennock. Great Rock Micaceous Haematite Mine. Mill. The ore is crushed to about 1 inch size and passed with a water stream through tubs and sluices. The micaceous haematite by virtue of its fine grain and grain shape, is carried off in the water stream to settling tanks. The picture shows the sizing trommel (top) and feed to the tub and sluice. Coarse material settling in the tub is removed by hand (dump centre) for regrinding in a small ball mill (feed on right foreground). The settlements in the sluice goes to the waste dump. |
