| Description: | Amoeboceras is a genus belonging to the Subfamily Cardioceratidae from the Jurassic, Upper Corallian, serratum zone from Plaidy in Aberdeenshire. British Geological Survey Biostratigraphy Collection number GSE 5433. Green Spot. It is a finely ribbed form with a tabulate venter and minutely serrated keel, flanked either side by smooth bands or shallow sulci. The Cardioceratinae comprises four important genera, Quenstedtoceras, Goliathiceras, Cardioceras and Amoeboceras, they succeed each other stratigraphically with little overlap. The ammonites are very important for zoning the rocks in which they occur. They had rapid evolution, they were very abundant and very widespread and because of this high evolutionary turnover of species they have made it possible to create zones for periods less than one million years duration.
