Description: Broughton Quarry GFX Hartigan Ltd., Milton Keynes (village). Looking NW. Gravel workings in Second Terrace deposits of River Ouzel. After moving overburden (1.5 metres) about 3 - 4.5 metres of fine, medium and coarse gravel, with sand lenses is extracted. The gravel is chiefly of flint with some chalk pebbles; elephants' teeth have been collected from the gravels. The topsoil is replaced after the removal of the gravel and the land restored to agricultural use.
