You can view the full details of an item by clicking on the thumbnail or the "View details" link on the item in search results or when browsing the categories.
The details page shows a medium-size thumbnail of the item along with its associated metadata. There are also a number of actions you can perform on the item depending on your permissions as a user:
You can add the item to your Lightbox by clicking "add to my Lightbox".
If the item is an image then you can click the link "view full size" to open a new window containing the original uploaded image. Note that this may take a while to open, depending on the size of the image and the speed of your internet connection. If the image is particularly large (and thus difficult to view in a browser) then you will see the additional option "view larger size".
If you have permission to download the item then you will see a button "Download". Clicking this takes you to the item download page.
If you do not have permission to download, but you are able to request permission from an admin user, you can add the item to your Lightbox then request approval from there.
If you have permission to edit this item then you will see a button "Edit". If you click this button you will be taken to the "Update item" page, which enables you to update the metadata or file associated with the item.
If you have permission to edit this item then you will also see a button "Delete". On clicking this button you will be asked to confirm the deletion. If you click "OK" the item will be permanently removed from Asset Bank, along with any associated data such as usage records.
GeoScenic Image fields
P number - a unique identifier for an image. Please quote this number with any enquires to BGS.
Old photograph number - original collection number.
Caption - a brief title for the image.
Description - A full description for an image (if available).
Date taken - The date the image was taken. When this is not known an approximate date is given.
Photographer - name of the person who took the image.
Copyright statement - Ownership of copyright of the image.
Acknowledgement - To describe any formal association with the image. e.g. who funded the digitization, who donated the image etc.
X longitude/easting - National Grid easting or longitude. This could be either an actual reading taken from a GPS, map etc or for historical photographs an approximate figure.
Y latitude/northing - National Grid northing or latitude.This could be either an actual reading taken from a GPS, map etc or for historical photographs an approximate figure.
Coordinate reference system, ESPG code - the system used for the X and Y figures above.
Orientation - Indicates if the image is Lanscape or portrait format.
Size - size information for the image.
Categories - the subject categories to which the image is assigned.
